Hey guys it’s Tiffany!
Sorry it’s been so long since I have written. I have been really busy with school work and midterms (on top of being computerless for about a month) but I wanted to share a word with you guys.
I have been reading in Colossians and there is a verse that really jumped out at me today
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. ~Colossians 3:5-8
The verse I really want to emphasize is verse 8 “But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.”
When we accept God we become new creatures (as you can read in most of Paul’s writings. Reading all of Colossians 3 will help understand this idea). So when we accept Christ, we are to put off our old selves, and put on our new robes of righteousness.
Maybe you are new to the Kingdom, maybe you have been saved for a while. Maybe you are not quite sure where you fit in. Whatever your standing is, ask God if there is something that needs to be changed. Because when you go from being a part of the world to part of His Kingdom, there is a HUGE change. We go from being citizens from a deathly sick and corrupted world, to a righteous and Holy Kingdom
This means that there needs to be changes in our lives. Whether it be our language, our friends, or our activities, there is some things that just need to change. Perhaps you have been saved, but never put off your old self… well the time is NOW.
I encourage you not to delay any longer. You will feel so much better once you do. And God knows it is hard, but remember, He has overcome the WORLD! He can help you, and He wants to help you. The Father of ALL CREATION wants to help you overcome the sin in your life, and the time to ask for help is NOW!
I want to encourage everyone, new believers and experienced believers alike, to ask God to open your eyes to what needs to change in your life.
And I want you to know, I’m not just asking yall to do it without doing it myself. God really has convicted me of something that seemed petty and unimportant, but when I did it again, the guilt was huge and I realized I needed to stop. And I feel so much better now.
I hope that yall are able to do this, and get closer to your Heavenly Father as well.
So for many of you, school has started back, and if you’re anything like me, the school work is piling up…. FAST. The stress is quickly starting to ease it’s way in, with deadlines for, homework, exams, papers all due at the same time, while trying to balance Jesus, daily Bible time, friends, family, and work too. Needless to say, it’s pretty stressful. But tonight Pastor gave an awesome word, and he pointed out this scripture and I couldn’t wait to share it with you guys!
It is Psalm 68:19
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19
Praise the LORD!! He bears our burdens DAILY! There is not a day that goes by where He does not offer to carry our burdens. So no matter what stress is going on in our life, be it school, work, family, relationships, whatever it is, there is nothing too big that God can’t handle. If you will only give them to Him, He will gladly bear your burdens for you! Remember, He has overcome the world!
God bless and hope you all are doing well! Peace and blessings!
Romans 5:10-11 says “For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.”
So how do you become a “friend of God?” Well it is actually pretty simple. It is just like how one would typically make friends. You become friends with someone by spending time with them, and getting to know them right? Well it’s the same way for God.
You spend time with Him, talk to Him, and read His word to get to know Him better. Just like how you share your worries, fears, triumphs, victories, successes and failures with your close friends, God wants you to do the same with Him. Tell Him all the details in your life, sure He already knows them, but He wants to hear it from you. Just as we desire a relationship with Him, He even more so, He desires a relationship with us. And the key to any relationship/friendship is communication.
So talk with God, and get to know Him better, so that you can also be a friend of God!
So recently I watched Tangled for the first time. And as I was watching it, I was touched by the city’s faith. If you have not seen the movie, here is what I am talking about. Every year on the missing princess’s birthday, they release hundreds of lanterns in the night sky, in hopes that she may return.
So they did this for 18 years (until she finally returned home). They did not give up hope that she would return, no matter how many years had passed.
We should be the same way with God. We should pray without ceasing. Even if we feel our prayers are going unanswered, He still hears our cries. Just because He has not answered them yet, does not mean He isn’t listening, it just means He is waiting for the right time to give you the answer you ask. We just have to have faith that He is listening and faith that He will answer our prayer!
“who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:5-9
“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalms 25:5
Some of you may be familiar with the parable from Matthew 18 about the unforgiving debtor (Matthew 18:23-35). If you are not, here is a short summary. A king ordered one of his servants to pay his debt (which was millions of dollars) but the servant pleaded with the king, and the king gave him more time to pay. Well that very servant went to one of his own debtors who owed him a just a couple thousand dollars, and refused to give that man extra time and threw him in jail. When the king found out, he was furious and immediately threw the first servant in prison to be tortured until the debt was paid.
It goes on to say in verse 35 ““That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”
Jesus forgave us of all our sins. He knows about every sin we have ever committed and still He forgives us. If our God who can forgive us of all our sins can forgive us, then surely we can forgive those who have sinned against us. It is our duties as Christians to forgive others, just as Christ has forgiven us. He says in verse 35 that when you do not forgive your brothers or sisters, then you will be punished.
So tonight I challenge you to examine your hearts. Is there someone who you need to forgive? It may not be easy, but it is something that we need to do. And it may take time, so ask Jesus to help you to forgive this person. You will be surprised at how relieved you will feel once those feelings against those persons are gone.
Here is something to try and think about:
If your dealing with any of these things like Self harm, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, being sad, whatever it may be, you should try this.
Grab a box, or a jar, whichever you’d like. Get out a notebook, scissors, pens (colorful if you want.) And your bible. (:
Go through your bible and pick out your favorite encouraging inspiring bible verses that make you feel better, give you strength, and remind you of God and Jesus. Any verses you like, write them down, cut them out, and fold them up. Place them in your jar or box.
Now, when your sad or you feel yourself starting to slip or drift away from God, grab your little box.
Open it and read all of your bible verses. They’ll make you feel happy, loved, remind you that God is there and listening. And you will probably feel closer to him getting into his word.
So every time these feelings come back, before turning to anything else, self harming, or being sad and making things worse by over thinking, try grabbing your little box of bible verses to bring you back up. And Pray. (:
You, yes you. Every person reading this. You are beautiful. Inside and out. The creator of this earth made you with his hands. Look around at everything, and then look at yourself. How could you say you’re not?
We all have insecurities, every single one of us. So I know how you feel if your feeling worthless right now, if your feeling your not meant for anything, if your feeling as if your not beautiful. I understand.
But you are. I am. The person sitting next to you in class today. That guy you passed while getting on the train, all of them. They’re beautiful, priceless, masterpieces of God’s own hands.
Don’t beat yourself up over how you look. Don’t compare yourself to society, or other people. God made you the way you are. The world’s best artist put you together. Not only are you beautiful, but you mean so much to him, to this world, and to me. All of you.
God has a plan for each and every one of us. Sure, we get worried and stressed, wondering how things could ever turn out right. We may wonder if our future will become clearer in time, instead of just staring into darkness wondering where life will take us. But God has everything planned out. He knows everything that is going to happen. He, is writing your story. So stop stressing, relax, pray about your worries, and move on. Enjoy your life. Right now, enjoy the moment your living in, and don’t always be focusing on the future. (or the past.) Because if your focusing on any other time than in the present, you may regret all the time you’ve wasted. And once you do, you can’t turn back.
So realize that your beautiful, and embrace it. Know that God has a plan for you, and breathe. Everything is going to be okay. You’re in God’s hands, the best place to be.
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he’ll lead your paths straight.
Isaiah 64:8 - But now, O Lord, You are our father; We are the clay, and you our potter; We are all the work of your hand.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future, and a hope. Then you will call upon me and go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried you captive.
Proverbs 16:9 - In his heart, a man plans his course. But the Lord, determines his steps.
Song of Solomon 4:7 - You are all fair, my love, there is no spot in you
Some of you may or may not have known, but I myself have been trying to find that perfect church to go to.
For reasons that I’m not going to type out, (because it would be way too long..) My family has been searching for a church for a while now.
We found one, they were great. I really did love it there. We went a few times, and we haven’t gone in a week or two. My mom and I were talking today, and we think our search isn’t over just yet.
If you don’t feel 150% about a church, keep looking! Pray. Never stop praying.
Your church should be somewhere to go and feel comfortable. To feel welcome, and loved, and supported, and also support others.
I don’t think any of us should have to “settle” on a church. I really do strongly believe, if you keep praying you will find the perfect church for you and your family.
For me, my family’s search has not ended. Sure we found a nice church, at first I LOVED it. But after much thought, there’s much more we want out of a church we will attend. If you don’t feel positive about it, maybe your search isn’t supposed to be over.
Never give up hope, you will deffinitly find a church soon. It’s not an easy task, but it’s most deffinitly worth the time.
How to Pray?
There is really no right or wrong way to pray. There’s many ways of praying. You don’t have to speak out loud, you can talk to him in your head too. He still hears you.
You don’t need to speak a certain way, or be super educated on things in order to be able to pray to God. The words you pray do not have to be impressive in speech in order for him to listen to your prayer.
What do you say during prayer?
Basically just talk to him. Thank him for everything and everyone you have in your life. Let him know that you appreciate how blessed you are. Even when your going through a rough time we should always be thanking him. When your going through tough times, talk it out with him. Pour out your heart to him. Ask for strength to get through it and he will help you.
Psalm 107:28-30 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven
God will help us through anything we may face if we call upon him in prayer.
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
James 5:14-16 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
2 Samuel 22: 2-4 - The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in Him I will trust, My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
2 Samuel 22:7 - In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God. He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered his ears.
Psalm 27:1 - The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 28: 6-7 - Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplications! The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him and I am helped; Therefore my heart will greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise him.
Making your prayer super long and fancy in words doesn’t really matter…What really matters is coming from your heart no matter how long or short, or how well you speak. He can see your heart and know how you really feel and that is what matters.
Matthew 6:7 - And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
There is no right or wrong way to pray to our God. If you feel something in your heart, speak to him. Whether it’s thanking him, or asking for help and guidance he will always hear you, and he is always there for us.
No one can ever tell you that your praying wrong, because only God can see your heart and know what your feeling. And that’s what matters!
